Linux and external db connection

Hi to all.
I'm making some tests with modharbour in Linux. Working with Dbf if perfect, no problem.
But I must connect with some external databases like MS Sql Server.
What is the command to use to open a connection and read some tables ?
Has someone ever tested something like this in Linux ?
