OT: It's getting harder !

Postby TimStone » Sun Jun 12, 2016 6:32 pm

During the past week I've run into a number of "issues" that have been significant challenges. In some cases things that worked simply stopped working. In other situations, code that has existed for over 10 years without fail suddenly isn't working properly.

Could it be old age ? Is it just new FW builds conflicting with old programming styles ? Could it be Windows 10, Harbour, FWH, or MSVC 2015 ?

Frankly, it can be a combination of these, and it's just plain getting harder to figure out what is happening, why, and how to fix it.

I suppose that is the challenge of being a programmer, but now we have so much more to tackle, so many more variables, and everything is changing so fast ... new libraries, new tools, new OS updates ... and we have to stay on top of it all because that's what our clients may be doing.

It's getting harder ... so now is a great time to have a glass of wine, take a walk on the beach, or play with the grandkids. Programming is not going to get any easier !

It would be easier to help, show images or examples.

My comment was an observation. I resolved all of the problems. I was just commenting that programming is so much harder now than when I started 34 years ago. It has become more complex.. OT in the title was to indicate I didn't have a specific question.
