Create a Harbour language extension for Visual Studio IDE

Create a Harbour language extension for Visual Studio IDE

Postby Antonio Linares » Sat Jun 28, 2014 2:26 pm

Lets see if we are lucky enough and could get a .NET C# expert to help us :-)

https://www.freelancer.com/projects/C-Sharp-Programming-NET/New-language-extension-for-Visual.html

http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/33250/Writing-Your-First-Visual-Studio-Language-Service

If some of you are also interested in this, we could offer more money for it. So your help (all of you) is really welcome :-)

If finally we get someone to build it, then it will be free for all the Harbour users and fully source code will be available for everyone :-)

thanks

We can already build Harbour + FWH apps from Visual Studio:

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=28723&start=0&hilit=Detailed

the goal now is to fully integrate the Harbour language in Visual Studio IDE source code editor as other languages are supported, so we will get the best from the Visual Studio source code editor.

We have already received four offers to develop it:

https://www.freelancer.com/projects/C-Sharp-Programming-NET/New-language-extension-for-Visual.html?utm_campaign=bid_updated_buyer&utm_medium=email&utm_source=project&utm_content=project

If you want to donate to help you can send your contribution via PayPal to my account alinares@fivetechsoft.com I will publish here all the received donations and also I kindly ask for your help to select the developer that you think it may be the best one.

This would be a great benefit for all of us, so please consider to help, thanks :-)

George Abinader already donated 100 USD (via PayPal) to pay a C# programmer to implement it.

Nobody else is willing to help ? :-)

We will all benefit from this. Please consider it, thanks

If you want to donate to this, you may use PayPal to alinares@fivetechsoft.com

I will list here all the donations and we will use that money to pay an expert C# programmer to build it for us.

To be able to fully support the Harbour and FWH language from Visual Studio will benefit all of us. Think about this: proper syntax highlighting, code formatting, local popups to propose the right syntax for functions, parameters, commands, code folding, etc. Visual Studio will manage the harbour language as a standard language from its IDE like it does for C++, VB, etc.

Won't you like to have this from Visual Studio ? :-)

Antonio,

Thanks for the idea.

And what do you think to hire them to create a Visual Report Designer, like EasyReport?.

They just do the IDE and save the invoice into an ini file or XML, and we retrieve it from FWH using TPrinterClass.

What do you think?.

Thanks :D

Elvira,

There are no limits for all that we can do together, but lets go walking not running :-)

Now lets focus on this, later on, many new things will come for sure.

In fact this morning (meanwhile I was doing a long long walk on the beach) I was thinking about what you are saying, but my plan is different ;-)

And what´s your plan please?. It is quite urgent to have a substitute for FastReport, and it would be just great if its all coded in FWH.

Dear friends,

This is very important for all of us. Please realize that you will be able to use (if you want to) the best IDE from Microsoft to do your work.

Won't you provide some help for this ? You are using a great Harbour compiler for free so its nice if you give back a little to help on its progress :-)

We need to hire an expert C# programmer to do this job (its a development that could take some weeks -a developer who already created one confirmed it to me by email but unfortunately he can not help us now-).

many thanks
regards, saludos

Many thanks to Eduardo Borondón who has contributed 52 euros and to Vilian Arraes who has contributed 50 USD :-D

The donations list up to now is:

George Abinader: 100 USD
Kok Joek Hoa: 50 USD
anonymous: 100 euros
Eduardo Borondón: 52 euros
Vilian Arraes: 50 USD

Total (aprox): 146 euros (200 USD) + 152 euros = 298 euros

Many thanks! We could already hire one of the lower offers that we have received from freelancer.com

Yesterday I was chatting with Sinharavi (India) and I explained him that in order to hire him he should prove that he has the required technical skills and I explained him that previously to hire him he should provide us a proof that he has enough tech level on C# and on Irony use to develop this extension for Visual Studio. I explained him that meanwhile he does not provide us that proof that we could all review, we would not hire him and he agreed. So I will keep you updated about what we talk.

Also, I would appreciate if you review the candidates list and let me know who, in your opinion, seems as the right candidate to develop it :-)
regards, saludos

My conversation with Sinharavi: (from freelancer.com)

Hello, have you ever created a language extension for Visual Studio ? Do you have experience on that area ?

> yes

Could you let me try a visual studio language extension that you may have created previously ?

We already have the money to pay you, but you should prove first that you have the knowledge to do it

sorry about this, but its not my money. It is the money of a group of persons and I can not take risks on this
I hope that you can understand me

> ok
> Not a problem
> but i will not able to share any code or UI because i was working on remote
> it was .rbt
> but you can see my work history and ratings

I need a proof that you know how to do it
because I will have to show the people that is giving me the money that you have the right skills
if you cant provide us such proof I am sorry but then we will look for another candidate

> ok As you wish but i will not able to share any detals

its fine
simply create a very very basic draft that we can install and test
I will show it to the people that is paying this, and they will decide
you don't have to send me the source code, just the Visual Studio language extension that we can check that you have created it yourself
sorry about this, we can not take risks

> What is your budget?

We may increase it because we have asked many users to put money for this
but I can not through it away
all the candidates will be asked for the same
this week we will know for sure how much money we have for this
because my users are already donating for this

> ok
> okay

if we have more money I don't mind to pay you more, but we need full guaranty that you know how to do it
so please create a very basic draft that I may show them
and if they agree it will be for you

> ok
> ok sure

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28766&start=0
this week many more users will donate
look at the amount of users that we have in our forums
so money should not be a problem

I announced it yesterday and we already have 150 USD but along this week we will collect much more
if you want it, do as I have explained you
thanks for your understanding

> ok

Dear Sinharavi, we already have 298 euros:

viewtopic.php?p=161597#p161597
we are ready to evaluate your little demo to check that you know enough those tools to create it :-)
And surely, we may receive some more money :-)
regards, saludos
