I just sent this email to Timm Sodtalbers (EasyReport owner and developer)
Dear Timm,
Long time we don't talk. How are you ? I hope everything is fine on your side.
I would like to comment you something:
Would you be interested in selling EasyReport source code ? My idea is to make it open source and to integrate it with FWH.
This way we could have a free and open source report designer for all the FWH users community
Hopefully we could find an agreement and this way we would give EasyReport a long long life and a great solution to all FWH users
many thanks for considering it,
Waiting for your news,
best regards
Antonio Linares

Richard,
We must have full source code for the visual report designer to include in FWH as we don't want to depend on closed commercial products that sooner or later may become obsolete or discontinued.
This way I understand that the best choice is EasyReport

We finished converting all our app from easyreport into fastreport(FRH) last month.
Frh almost no prg code for report, only need prg offer data/tables ,others done by frh designer.
Easyreport need many prg codes after designer edit former .
Regards!

Shuming,
I am sure that FR is a very good reports designer, but we want to use one that provides full source code and total freedom to update it and modify it the way we may want to
The more we can avoid closed tools, the better for the future of our apps
Also we will not need any external tools at all, no DLLs, runtimes, etc. Self contained EXEs

Hi Antonio,
nobody need Easyreport for a serious commercial application, it is a dead and dated project.
Please don't lost your time with this product. You could project a FastReport direct integration inside FWH instead.

Marco,
using both tools I can’t support your point of view.
If Easyreport would become open source and would get a face-lifting I would say for my application this would be the right tool.
Best regards,
Otto

I need to ask you a favor to all of you:
If you have a fax machine in your office (we have one but it has not been used for years and doesn't work), could you please fax the email that I posted at the beginning of this thread to
Fax: +49 4941 68941If you do it, please report it here, so Timm doesn't get a tons of faxes
(hopefully that fax number is still active)

Antonio,
Great iniaitive.
Marco,
FastReport for Harbour/xHarbour is dead as Sergey passed away. Having the source code of EasyReport will allow us to fix it and to add other features. Besides, most we don´t need advanded features of FastReport, but yes a easy designer for invoices.
And most important, Sergey passed away and the product is also dead. In fact, new users of FR must be pirate, as you can´t purchase it for Harbour no longer.

Elvira, we used the fastreport (Sergey). Precisely because fastreport (Sergey) is dead. Implemented successfully fastreport ( x ). Several adjustments were necessary for success.

Dear friends, great news from Timm !!!
Today I got this email from him: (Dear Timm, hope that you dont mind that I post it here)
Hi Antonio!
Nice to hear from you! Everything is fine here. I hope you are doing well, too.
Unfortunately I don´t have the time to develop news version of
EasyReport and therefore I am interested in selling the source code.
Maybe you can make an offer?
Best regards, Timm.
