Fast Reports -Sergey Rests

Hi everyone;

Sergey Spirin's passing away is a very sad event. This was a great man and developer.

Since Sergey now rests in peace, I don't know how much longer the frh google group will be maintained. Being that Frax_Frh is used by a lot of fwinners, perhaps we can all pull together to help each other with questions about frh. I still think that even though Sergey is no longer around, FastReports is the best report engine available to the xbase world BY FAR and nothing even comes close.

I've been using frh since last Nov (2011) and feel like I understand it pretty well. So I offer my help to anyone posting questions on this forum. I know there are other fwinners who are quite good at frh also. I hope that this forum administrators won't mind.

On a similar subject; I'm thinking that Antonio would be an excellent candidate to take over FRH development. FastReports for xBase and Harbour was developed and sold by Sergey under a special license from the Fast Reports creators. I'm sure Antonio can take over and shouldn't have much resistance from FastReports to become the new librarian for FRAX_FRH. I sure hope Antonio is willing to try.

Best regards to all,

Reinaldo.

Reinaldo:

I agree with you, Antonio is the best answer.

Reinaldo,

Could you contact his wife and ask her to provide us the sources ? with our commitment that sales profits will be for her.

Also, we could turn it into an open source project, hosted at Google code or sourceforge, with a PayPal button for his wife.

@ Otto: I haven't, I wish I didn't have to resort to an Active X component as the current way of using FastRepots for fw/harbour users only requires a single .dll to be distributed with your application. No need to register an ocx component. Furthermore, Sergey's work included the ability to call harbour code and/or udf from within the form/report template and managing harbour work areas. It is a beautiful piece of work.

@ Antonio: I've been trying his wife (Elena) for a few days now, but not getting any sort of reply so far. I'm also reaching out to the fast-reports creators (I think they are also Russians) via a support ticket on the fast-reports website. I still don't have an answer from them. Will keep you posted.

Thank you for replying to this thread;

Thanks.

By the way, do you use Harbour, xHarbour.com or xHarbour.org?.

BTW - notice on Otto's images how frh integrates graphs that are very easy to define into your reports. It is just splendid. I love that you can create a report and save it as prepared report that can be re-previwed or re-printed, or sent via email etc... at any time in the future. I'm just sad if this great tool now dies.

@Otto- that is a very nice looking report. I love to look at other's beautiful work to later imitate on my own reports. Nice job. Thank you for sharing these images.
