How does Fivetech plan to implement the Backstage Menu Controls Office 2010 style.

Will this be a DIALOG, a WINDOW or a PANEL.
Best regards,
Otto

To demonstrate what I mean I post 2 screenshots from OFFICE 2010.

First is the standard working screen with the ribbonbar. Then if you click on backstage button (File, Datei)
you get the menu screen. This screen covers the ribbon. I am not sure is this a WINDOW or a DIALOG or a PANEL.
Thanks in advance
Otto

Otto,

If Tab support is needed then we could use a dialog :-) but in fact, any of them could be valid ones

Hello Antonio,
thank you for your response.

As I think that the backstage menu is part of ribbonbar so you have to decide which way to go.

Please can you post some code how to make the backstage “WINDOW”.
I mean you click on the backstage button and then you have a “WINDOW” which resizes and covers exactly the given space.

As menu maybe we could use the new TExplorer class?

Have you installed Office 2010?
Best regards,
Otto

Otto,

I have not installed Office 2010 yet. In fact I try to use Office as little as possible, though its just my personal preference as I enjoy to use google docs and have all my docs on the "cloud" and accesible from everywhere :-)

As I see from your screenshots, the backstage window should cover all the container window except the top part where the ribbon tabs are. Is it so ?

We should decide which controls we would like to have on that backstage window. Or give it the freedom to use any FWH controls on it :-)

Hello Antonio,

> to use google docs and have all my docs on the "cloud"
I don't use it because I am afraid I will find my docs on GOOGLE

Now I understand why there is not much help on Office 2010.

So you haven’t worked with it till now. I use the Beta since it is available and this is really a great product and will sure become standard for layout.
It is so much better than all before. Working with Office 2010 you ask yourself why software was not made this way earlier.

I think the BETA link on the Microsoft homepage is still working.

I read that 85% of all “Office” users use Microsoft Office. And if you look the threads here on the forum (EXCEL, Outlook, WORD) I think it is true.

Please be so kind and get a copy. We lose so much time not having the controls ready in time.

Best regards,
Otto

I don't use Google aps. I researched them, found them to be very incomplete, and promised features never arrived.

Office 2010 now has a cloud repository that you can use directly from within the programs. Its been out there for awhile in 2007, but has been enhanced for 2010.

Otto,

Do you go everyday to your bank to check if your money is still there and to count and see your notes ?

What do you think it is more important, your data or your money ? :-)

Antonio,

data!

Imagine you lose your jpg (data) folder with all your family photos.

Money has no bow tie – you can earn other money if you lose.

Dear Otto,

Thanks for your answers. I was curious to know your ideas about it :-)

Please let me do another question:
What percentage of Office users do you think that are already using Office 2010 ?

Thanks,

Otto,

If you data is more valuable than your money, why do you keep your data at "home" instead of having it in a "bank" ? :-)

Hola,

Forgive me, put me into the conversation, if you use google docs Antonio, do you have a class that can access the documents, read, search, edit, ...? from FWH.

Pere
Thanks.

Hello Antonio,

As Office 2010 is not released yet I think there are not much users by now.

But there is so less missing to have a similar look with FiveWin as Office 2010.

I am 100% sure if you try out 2010 we will have the ribbon ready in a few days because it makes all so much easier.

As if we could have it by now we can adapt our software in time.

Do you think I am wrong with my estimation that RibbonBar Office style 2010 will be the standard for
the next years.

Best regards,
Otto
