I have done this for years in shared very large Novell networks and never had a speed issue ..

Recuerdo que me pasaba lo mismo (hace muchos años), en entorno de red (REDES NOVELL).

Creo recordar que el problema es que no das tiempo a que se grabe fisicamente el registro. Debes darle un instante y forzar el grabado con el DBCOMMIT(), antes de refrescar.

vi tu código, por lo visto estas usando dbCommit(), sacalos todos, ese es el primer punto a corregir, esa instrucción en redes novell produce una tremenda lentitud inexplicablemente, que en forma local no se percibe, por otro lado, el xbrowse hace búsqueda incremental desde la primera letra del campo ...

Te comento, el sistema fue instalado en una carpeta de una Red Novell 3.12, donde hay otros sistemas en Clipper y estos vuelan, pero FWH 17.09, su Xbrowse sucumbe, su lentitud es tremenda, pero en pc local, incluso probado en Pendriver, muy rapido, pero en Red, muere.

Tengo un tremendo problema, me ha pedido que instale en una red Novell, un sistema que estaba en disco local, funcionando bien, pero la busqueda Incremental en Xbrowse en Red, se ha enlentesido demaciado y me han reclamado y pedido solucion:

Betrieve was a database system native to Novell network servers. Novell provided the API. I remember that betrieve file is basically a flat file. Unless the software encrypted the data, we should be able to read the data normally.

He estado investigando un poco sobre suse, lo que me agrada es que la version Enterprise server tiene soporte por parte de novell y es muy facil de administar (segun novell).

Tal vez esa sea una garatia de exito en el proyecto...
