Antonio,

- windows TO-Go : you can use your windows from pen-drive and carry with you.
- boot speed improvement : less than 7 seconds to boot.
- Download : smartscreen filter : block malicious download
- Password : 4 digit PIN design with touch.
- IE10 : best suport to HTML5 and flash inside.

- 19 US$ update program : pcs purchased today until 1 January will receive for free windows 8

so many improvements that we would have to create a forum to discuss ... :D :D this is a best windows , or windows reinvented.

I take that leave for off topic to comment, another day on FB you said that we need a mature system for phones, day 20 we will announce windows phone 8, I want to nudge the competitor

Intel : Android Multicore is just Marketing:

http://www.gsmarena.com/intel_android_m ... um=twitter

and today apple should announce ios 6 and osx lion at wwdc

best regards

Otto,
We were marketing some of our software to Container Yards and Trucking Companies. The point is those companies were not willing to replace/upgrade all of their computers just to get a new user interface. What they had worked and they were used to it.

I am not saying I will not change or add the interface in the future. I am saying that Metro is not a nail looking for a hammer or the be all and end all.

I believe that while ultrabooks / PCs with touch screen are not low-cost, migration will be slow, and big corporations ended up migrating to windows 7, will wait to migrate also.
but steve balmer said that we would have 500 million copies sold at launch, who live, you'll see ...

Hello Michel,
Yes you are right.

This discussion started because I asked Antonio the following:

is there a special reason why you selected MDI design for the new FiveDBU.
I will remember that I read that MDI is no longer part of WINDOWS 8.
So bringing the design to WINDOWS 8 the more mature FIVEDBU becomes the more work it will be.

If we plan to adapt FiveDBU to MetroStyle the conversation if resources are used is much more work confronted to coded dialogs or windows.

I only wanted to adapt DBU to MetroStyle to try how a dBase utility could look following the Metro Style concepts.

Best regards,
Otto

To all,
I have the feeling that many posting about WINDOWS 8/Metro Style are made without even having fair tested the system.

WINDOWS 8 should be used as the main OS not from a virtual machine.

Then you should try all the programs available through the store. Calendar is a good one and you should use exclusively INTERNET EXPLORER 10.

If you have done this for more than a week I think you ready to evaluate/review the system.

*************************************************************************************************
Please use INTERNET EXPLORER 10 as main explorer to get a real feeling for Metro Style.

Best regards,
Otto

Otto,
What makes you think I have not given it a fair shot anyway. Is the only way to give it a fair shot in your mind to accept it and to force companies and users to pay for upgrades and use the new system? Can't we have an informed opinion that differs from yours? Every post you make tries to convert us and preaches the Windows 8 gospel. Someday it might be the only way to go, but I can't justify the expense for the benefits right now. My users like what they have and it works for them.

Gale,
please try to understand my concerns.
As I am not an in-house developer but a software producer for me every new OS is a chance to sell not only updates but also upgrades and to get new users. I think this is different from you. In your case a new OS produces costs in my case it offers business possibilities.
Please understand that for me it is important that FIVETECH offers components to compete with the competitors.
But if you feel that I disturb the sense of the forum I stop sharing my experiences.
Best regards,
Otto

Otto,
You can support and recommend all you like, I have no problem with that and look forward to the options that the new features allow me to work with. What I am starting to get from you is that I have to change no matter what.
Your industry may want change and will pay for it but it may not be appropriate for all users and all companies to conform like lemmings.
The companies I deal with are container yards and trucking companies. The trucking companies handle dispatching and need larger screens with multiple views and screens at the same time. They also need to key in a lot of information that does not lend itself to a touch screen keyboard. Not only that, the price to upgrade for what. They need a well designed application that integrates with the tools that they have, including Outlook and Excel. When there is some actual benefit that outweighs the cost then I will be 100% behind it.
