I would prefer to put that definition in a FWH .c file (if it is enough to solve the problem, please check). Otherwise it would be included in each PRG of a project.

My samples are always designed to clearly demonstrate how to solve a specific problem and all you add is only confusion.

I haven't conducted any direct speed measurements, but I've never noticed it being slow.
I think the code page must solve it similarly.
