Re: vTaskBar on the left MDIChild Window on the Right

... hide() and show() the panels--basically the same you do with MDI windows. I can't think of anything you can do with MDI that you can't do with SDI. You will have to try harder to find something (grin). James

Re: vTaskBar on the left MDIChild Window on the Right

Hi Reinaldo,

Don't use MDI windows. Use a panel instead. Make your app into a SDI (single document interface) similar to Outlook.

MDI windows are a nightmare for both users and programmers.

James

MDI window caption problem on Citrix server

... as unicode (treats 2 bytes as 1 char), but if we try title with unicode coding, presentsion is also wrong (square boxes instead of 2-byte chars). SDI window title and MDI child titles are ok. Have anybody seen this before? Anyone using Citrix? Taavi

Re: Inactive xBrowse on Main Windows

>Child windows get created behind the dialog. I believe this is a limitation of MDI. Personally, I do not like MDI. Consider a SDI design with splitter on a main window and put the main browse on one side and the others on the other side. This way the user doesn't have to move windows ...

Re: Advice needed

... after the window is closed. These issues are why I never use MDI windows. There is way too much effort for the user spent manipulating windows. A SDI interface like Outlook is much easier for the user. James

... has been happening. I'm using your original solution ( top of thread ) and it seems to work. However, after awhile using the program, which is all SDI ( Dialogs ), when someone returns to the MAIN( ) window, the background disappears. There is no persistant pattern that I can identify. Any thoughts ...
